STEP 44 OF 67 · YOU ARE THE ENVIRONMENT ARTIST

Let AI agents build at your quality bar

You give the agent your region rules, your curated assets and your references. It builds in an isolated copy of the project, checks itself against your references, and you approve or send it back.

How to do it

  1. Give the agent the region's rules, your asset library and your reference screenshots.
  2. It writes PCG graphs and places assets through the MCP plugin in 5.8's Sandbox (an isolated copy).
  3. It captures screenshots, compares them to your references and revises.
  4. You review and merge it, or send it back with notes.
How AI speeds this up

This is how one person fills a large world. Quality comes from the assets and rules you choose; the agent handles layout and set dressing.

Example from a sample game

Ashfall: the agent filled Cinder Flats' outskirts in a weekend; the creator rejected one pass for being too dense.

Before you move on

In Duke Forger, this step's gate checks:

Words to know

Sandbox
An isolated copy of the project where AI agents work, so nothing touches your real project until you approve.
MCP plugin
An experimental Unreal 5.8 plugin that lets AI agents operate the editor, such as placing objects or running tools, with your approval.
AI agent
An AI that does a multi-step job on its own, such as placing a district of buildings, then checks its work and reports back for your approval.
Do step 44 on your own game

Included in Creator, Academy and Studio. Duke drafts it with you and checks it before step 45 opens.
