STEP 61 OF 67 · YOU ARE THE DIRECTOR AND DESIGNER
Run the expansion loop
Each pass measures the gap, builds new content from your approved kits in the Sandbox, checks it automatically, shows you before and after, and merges only with your approval. It stops when every requirement is met.
How to do it
- Duke measures the world against the requirements and picks the biggest gap.
- New content is built from your kits and rules in the Sandbox.
- Automatic checks: style rules, performance budget, navigation, screenshots compared with the slice.
- You review before and after images and approve or reject.
- Approved passes merge and Duke measures again.
How AI speeds this up
Studio plan: Duke plans each pass and runs the review queue. Any plan: update counts as you build.
Example from a sample game
Ashfall: 14 passes; 2 rejected for breaking the 60 fps budget.
Before you move on

Words to know
- Expansion loop
- Duke's repeating cycle after the vertical slice: measure the gap, build more in a sandbox, check it, you approve, merge, repeat until every requirement is met.
- Sandbox
- An isolated copy of the project where AI agents work, so nothing touches your real project until you approve.
- Requirements
- The numbers your finished game must reach, such as districts, NPC looks and frame rate.
