STEP 11 OF 67 · YOU ARE THE TECHNICAL ARTIST

Create the Unreal project

In Unreal choose Games, Third Person, Blueprint. You get a working character and camera to build on. Then tell Duke where the project lives so its agent can check it.

How to do it

  1. Open Unreal Engine, choose Games, then Third Person, then Blueprint.
  2. Save it somewhere with plenty of space.
  3. Paste the full path to the .uproject file below.
How AI speeds this up

Duke can also generate a starter project with its own C++ systems (Download Unreal project in step 21).

Example from a sample game

Ashfall: D:\Games\Ashfall\Ashfall.uproject

Before you move on

In Duke Forger, this step's gate checks:

Words to know

Blueprint
Unreal's visual scripting: you build game logic by connecting boxes (nodes) instead of typing code.
.uproject file
The file that opens your Unreal project. Its path tells Duke where your project lives.
Do step 11 on your own game

Included in Creator, Academy and Studio. Duke drafts it with you and checks it before step 12 opens.
